I have an early 13b in my 88...

... and the custom motor mount I made when I put the motor in broke and took the rubber mount with it as well. Has anyone ever done this swap? I searched and found a lot of people who put late 13bs in 1st gens, but nobody putting a 1st gen 13b in a 2nd gen. If you don't know what I'm talking about, on the late 13b there is the mount that goes up through the oil pan. On the early 13b there is none, and there is not enough metal there to drill and tap to make one. There are 3 bolt holes above that (similiar to the opposite side, but closer together) that can be utilized. I made a kind of L shaped piece, and bolted it there, but it has broken. I want to make a stronger one, but I wanted to see if anyone had ever done this, or if there is an aftermarket mount available that would work. Thanks

We just finished one. Just use a bracket from the left side and add a piece of 1x1 square tube to the bottom of it. Did you have any otherproblems? We cant get this one to idle It was an automatic and we converted it to a manual and now it will run but if it goes under 3 grand it is like cutting the ignition. Any idea what this could be?

When I dropped it in it fired right up. Then I drove it home. I had 0 problems. I later found out that the 2nd gen LIM didn't totally match up. I used a little JB weld to extend the bottom of the manifold to cover the hole then made a gasket for it. I used the 85 block with the FC intake, TB, and accessories. Not sure what you did on yours. I also looked into using that mount and modifying it but it looked like the bolt holes didnt match up. Anyway you could post a pic?

I also think your problem is more likely related to the manual swap. The early 13b is basically identical to the later version. Everything on the FC will swap over without too much of a problem. I've never done one so I can't offer any assistance on that subject. But anyway get back to me about the mount situation. I'd love to duplicate yours if I could.
