I have an Air filter idea!
Buy your normal K&N or whatever cylinder filter. And instead of making an air box. Could you make a 4 or 5 inch piping that fits right AROUND the filter, and is sealed at the back, so no air could get in? This piping that is now around the filter (if you dont know what i'm talkin about think Ractive heat shields) and it will be connected to piping that has an inlet Right in the front of the car....that is 4 or 5 inches wide! and made the angles from in the front air damn not 90o angles, but slight uphills so it could function as ram air?
Or this has been thought of, but other piping has been used? I'm talkin Solid SS or Plumbers pipe...
Or i am a retard and it's already been done
BTW: I fixed my car....TPS was gettin to many volts
Later, Evan

I have already done this, with a plastic bucket.
I cut a hole in the bottom and pulled the filter neck through, reattached to the air meter. ran my cold air duct to the front of the bucket. Seal the face of the bucket with a peice of gator board or carbon fiber.
Done sealed cold air box, that really produces a slight amount of air pressure for a N/A car.
This was not a 5 gallon bucket.. more like 3 gallon and long and tall. not wide and short.

I saw this on a stock 2000 F-150 Grand Lariat. Plastic cylinder around the cylindrical filter with a tube going down to the front of the car. It would actually be the perfect size to wrap around most RX-7 intake kits now that I think about it.

I've seen this really cool airbox that bolts right to the airflow meter, has a filter inside of it, and a plastic snorkel that draws fresh air from the front of the car.
It's called a stock airbox .
I've never understood why people go through such giant engineering undertakings making cold air intakes. Guess what? It really doesn't make that big of a difference! Get a cone filter, stick it on, make a heat shield to shield it from the engine, and maybe make a duct to help draw fresh air to it. Done.
Guys, people have been making crazy cold air contraptions for YEARS. The only result I've seen is it makes the intake a far greater pain in the *** to take off, usually looks ghetto, and gets the filter incredibly dirty in no time.
It's not as big of a deal as you think it is.

Listen to what Dale said about keeping it simple. While I disagree that a proper cold air intake doesn't make a big difference, the set-up he describes is ideal for most people's needs, and isn't too hard to do. The most important part is stopping the filter from breathing engine bay air, most of which comes in through the radiator!

So instead of using a cold air intake like this, you want to totally enclose the filter, and run the duct from the filter, to the front of the car? Sounds like it would definetly force more air when the car is moving.
