I posted this earlier today - same problem:
At around 3800 the ECU is switching on the secondary injectors & cutting back half on the primaries.
This works smoothly only if your grounds are perfect.
It usually goes like this:
1) The primary ground (battery to starter) gets old.
2) some load picks up the firewall to bell housing ground (which is just a cheesy clip) & it gets weak.
3) Now the sensor & control grounds start seeing alternator & spark noise.
4) The ECU goes nuts.
5) You go nuts.
Clean up your grounds (bright shiny metal to metal contact).
Then maybe add a ground from the alternator frame to the spark coil mount.
Drive & smile!

i,m sorry i didn't take any picks. but i used a 10 gauge wire to ground the chassis of the ecu to a remote point that was not under the carpet. and i used a diagram off uf 1300.com to find out which wire to ground off of the middle plug.if i remenber right its the black wire at the top right of the middle plug. i grounded this wire with a piece of 14ga. keep it clean. if i have time i will tear my car apart and take some pics.

What year car was this on?? Just curious.. I was reading through old posts and REted stated that the grounding problem was fixed in production after 1987 1/2 year.
I never had the 3800 hesiation on my 90, but I did have high rpm breakup that was fixed by the grounding.

Something I've been meaning to do anyways.
