How long did it take? I tried to get a hold of my local Mazda dealer, and they just put me on hold for almst 30 minutes, till I called back! They said just come in, but I don't want to wait for 6 hours for something that only takes 10 minutes to fix!!!

for me it took 5 minutes to set up appointment...

2 hours for them to look it over (prob only took 10 minutes)

they ordered the parts (took a week)

brought the car back a week later then they had the parts in...

dropped it off at 9am and got it back 5pm. i have no idea how long it "really" took...but i got the car back the same day so that was cool

the 89-91 "mouse" US spec seatbelts sometimes go bad. either the motorized part of it messes up or the pulley mechanism locks up. so mazda replaces or fixes the broken parts for free...lifetime warranty

Looks like I need to call Mazda. Is it possible to get the parts for free, and do the work yourself? My local Mazda dealer even admitted they know NOTHING about rotaries, and I am even afraid to have them breathe on it!!

I am still ok w/ just deactivating the drivers side one, and hooking it up every time. Makes me feel like I am using a racing harness!!

Dude, the last time I checked the seat belts in these cars are not "Rotary engine powered". They seat belts are just that. Seat belts.

I don't trust my dealer either. Do this to make your self feel better (I did). Remove your A and B pillar. That way they won't have the chance to break your plastic. But as old as it is it may break anyway. With the molding out it is just bolts that hold the track and motor in place.

All there doing is fixing the auto belts after they don't go foward/backward.

i was skeptical too man...i'm in southwest VA where i'm sure they mostly only see Ford F-150's coming into the shop...but don't worry...like james said...its only a seatbelt motor. hell, they even washed my car for me

I agree with Wankel7. Remove your pillars. The dealer actually cut mine when they worked on my seat belts.

I would recommend NOT doing this since you can break them easily. The dealer broke mine and bought me a brand new set of A pillar mouldings.

Good point breesey. Probally should ask the dealer what their policy is on that. I removed mine because I had a 2 mount gauge pod on the piliar (Water and Boost).
