i got a big problem and need help!!!

ok im having a problem with my 88 vert again. its idealing ok and seems fine, but when i start the car i keep getting a metal to metal grinding sound,(like a shot bearing) i think its my altenator because its making a loud chriping noise. besides that the car has a true duel straight pipe exhaust, with the 5th and 6th acuators removed and the anti after burn valve removed and covered with a block off plate. well as i accelarate the car goes ok then at any random moment it has like a mean fuel cut. also as im crusing it wil cut in and out. wont go a steady speed.
i had this problem before but it was a vac leak because i didnt put gasket sealer on the block off plate, i went back and fixed it( at this point the car was just running with an open header) and it ran fine. then i took it to the local exhaust shop and they piped it to the back with 2 monza mufflers. and it ran shitty for an hour or so and then ran fine till the other day when it wouldnt start because it sat for 3 days. i ended up pulling all my fuses in the engine bay that i could and cranked it for a while and put them back in and got it to start and its ran like **** since. its back fires like no ******* tomorrow when its running shitty also.
anyone have an idea of what it might be?

still sounds like a vac leak, make sure when you put the block off plate you made one solid bead of sealer.

HA! I just had this problem! Here's what I did: Use a screwdriver and touch it to various parts of the car while it's running. (Various parts meaning under the hood) When you touch it to something, put the other end against your ear. Be careful while the car is running so you don't get hair or anything else caught in the belts or fan. If you like, you could also attach a funnel to the end of the screwdriver on the part that is supposed to go to your ear. This mimic a speaker and you won't have to put it to your ear. The culprit making the noise under my hood was a belt tensioner bearing. I used a wrench and snap ring pliers to get the bearing out and finding the source of the noise. I took it to Carquest and they used the number on it to get me a replacement for $11. Put it in and my car sounds so quite now.

ok well i pulled the block off plate and guess what the stock gasket was still on there, i thought it was gone when i pulled off the avc but i was wrong, so i guess i the stock gasket with black rtv sealent makes a possible problem. so i cleaned up the block and plate real good and re sealed it with the rtv and now its sitting and hopefully my problems will be fixed.
