I cant make a decision!!!! VERT or Sport Model!?
Ok,
Let me explain. I have a guy willing to sell me a nice black on black 89 vert n/a for $500.00.
The good:
STRAIGHT body... 8/10 interior... no mods...
The BAD:
He claims the motor is "Blown"...
OK, I have an 86 Sport N/A at the moment that I am in the middle of a teardown of...
Should I spend the $500.00 and pick up the vert, or wait and spend the $500.00 on parts for the 86 Sport.

Vert, all the way. IMHO, unless your planning on racing it on weekends, I agree with your first poll option whole heartedly.
Datsun1200 - The caboose on that girl in your Avitar is jsut plain wrong! If that isn't a photoshop product, that girl is doomed to having to buy two tickets on any airline. Talk about two tons of fun.

the motor may not even be blown, I have purchased quite a few of these cars with "blown" motors that turned out fine.
Verts get good money, even if the engine IS blown a S5 vert is worth it in parts alone, but please consider keeping it on the road instead of parting it out.

in reference to the "verts are slow" option... I would probably bet that an S5 vert is faster than an S4 coupe... sure they're a bit heavier, but they have a better engine with a higher red line.
it'll also be easier to swap an S5 TII engine into
I'd go for it, worst case senario, the engine is blown and you put a turbo engine in it or sell it for parts and make more money than you bought it for and still have your '86.

Now that is just an insult to all FC vert owners. If you have ever driven an FC vert and a buick you would know that they are nowhere close. Comparing an FC vert to a Buick is like comparing a tug boat to the titanic.
To the OP. Buy the vert, yank out the engine and do an S5 TII swap. I promise you will not regret it.
