I am to tall for my car...
When I bought my car I had seats in it which I could only move back and forth, and where in one piece (no separate headsupport). They had torns in them so I bought better shape seats on a wreckingyard. The "new" seats are also original RX-7 seats but the headsupport are separate and adjustable and the angle of the driversseat is adjustable.
It happens to be that the new driverseat is about 1.5 to 2 inch higher than the old one. Now my head is against the ceiling!
Does anyone know a way to lower the seat, maybe get some stuffing out or modify the sliders????
Marco

Short people fit in 7s just fine
WTF? I am 6'3 and it ******* sucks! I am thinking of getting aftermarket seats that sit lower. Any racing seats that sit really low to the floor so more headroom is added?

Marco,
LOL - after I read this I started looking at my seats I'm planning to restore.
UH - OH, this could be a problem I've got the same seats you put in and my old seats are probably lower:

I'm 198 centimeters ( 6'4"??).
Vaughnc, Leaning back is only a short time solution. I like to drive fast, and leaning back is not a very safe way to drive. You're arms have to be bent a little to have maximum control over the steering wheel. But you got me thinking, maybe getting the steering wheel closer to me might be the solution. (i have an aftermarket wheel) By the way you're new seat look like mine, but I have fabric not leather.
Erik, I think youre right about the seats being lower, it's the sliders with the extra tilt option that seams to be higher. (and I left the original sliders at the wreckingyard)
Saabguy: uum... i really don't want to say this but my sunroof doesn't work ....

Stop you're bitching, I'm 6'5". Drive a dodge colt for a few years and then we'll talk. (those days are finally over) Actually the colt is probably better for the torso, far worse for the legs.

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
Being 6'2" I find it’s tight on the sunroof model RX7s, without leaning the seat back more than I would like. One of the reasons I got rid of my FD was that the roof was just too low.
With a racing helmet on, it used to be NO WAY even on a sun roofed FC, but I took out about 1 1/2" of the foam in the middle of the bottom seat cushion and it is much better, plus then you don't have the mushy stock seat feel. Still another 1" of cushion there, so you get some padding, but you get some head room back.

geesh you guys, i don't know what you are talking about being only 5'0" i have no problem fitting in my car. And my little feet fit better on the petals, size 5 in women or only a size 4 in kids.

I have the same problem. I can fit in the car by tilting my seat back but it is not the optimal driving position.
The option that I have considered and will probably put into place are:
1. Shave my head (I have noticed that this helps, every mm counts!)
2. Get a spacer which will place the steering wheel further away from the dash.
3. Get some seats with less padding.
4. Bolt my seat directly to the floor.

I have Hyundai Sonata seats in my '84 GSL-SE (which goes now) and it's pretty good for my 6' 3" frame. My hair brushes the headliner, and I like my seat all the way back, but my legs are quite long and the seat doesn't go far back enough... well, enough but not too much...

I'm 6'1" and I fit in both my FC and FD with a little lean to the side and recline.

hmmm
I am 6'4" and I seem to fit just fine, although with my racing helmet things start to get a little rough and I need to slide into my seat a little bit.
Also these size 14 CDN shoes get in the way of the pedals sometimes. Currently I am facing the problem of heel-toe doesn't work, although I consider that to be ok, I can always just drive the way I normally do.

If I missed this suggestion, sorry. Somebody did make seat extenders at one time, and I thought I read that they did lower the seats a bit.
If you really like the seats, it may be possible to shorten up the legs a bit if the padding option isn't appealing.
Personally, I lean the seat back quite a bit. But, at 6'7" and long arms, it's not to bad for me. Definately not going to be putting on my racing helmet though.....
