hydraulic clutch slave/master replacement

So I had a horrible leak where my pedal woudl stick to the floor blah blah blah

I was still able to drive it for about a month until yesturday it finnaly gave up

I go to advance auto and get the parts I need

I'm taking it all apart fine and well I realize as I'm taking off bolts that this has been done before.

I take off the slave and find that the rubber piece in there the moves the clutch is torn to complete shreds

I go to put the new slave back on

the threads for the bolts are completely striped

why would the whole hydraulic system need to have been replaced more than once?
