Question Hybrid Turbo ???

So i got my hands on a garrett 50trim turbo. But it has a very weird manifold flange(the hole is similar to that of a t3 turbo but the holes for the manifold studs are closer together on the bottom than on the top). Basically what I am wondering is, how hard would it be for me to take the cold side, compressor wheel, and mid section of this garrett and put my stock s5 HT-18 hotside on it so i can run my stock manifold and the exhaust I already have? I've read the "How to rebuild the ht-18/Make a Hybrid" thread but I just can't seem to grasp how it would be done in my situation? Can i just get some machining done to the stock hot side and it will go together? That just seems too "easy". I'm not sure, as reading things can only take me so far I am more of a visual/learn by doing kind of guy.

Thanks for any input you turbo gods can throw my way!!

I just did mine I used a t70 compressor and a s5 hot side. I just replaced the compressor parts and didn't touch the rest of the turbo. Waiting on some parts to finish my new engine and see how it works

Look up the eBay hybrid turbo thread here on 7club. I put some good pics that explain what you can do and what to look into modifying to make it fit.

@polito...im relatively new to how everything in a turbo assembles. when you say you just replaced the compressor what do you mean? how did you get the rest of it to just fit on the ht-18 hotside?

@ruddyhid...will do!

You reuse everything on the exhaust side and center bearing housing. the only thing you will be using from the Garrett will be everything on the intake housing, backing plate ,compressor wheel, seals.

Hey, how do you like the boost response using a t70 compressor and wheel? Are you having issues with boost creep/retaining 16+ psi?
