HP difference b/t Mazdatrix true-dual & header/presil./catback??

Anyone know the HP difference between the Mazdatrix true-dual setup & the RB header/presilencer setup with a good aftermarket catback? Wanting to know if its worth the wait unless I can get my own true-dual setup going anytime soon here. Thanks.

Well, I don't have the headers or an aftermarket catback, but just the Racing Beat downpipe and presilencer on my GTUs gave me an additional 22 RWHP. This is a very satisfying setup with a minimum of fuss. It sounds great, gives me a nice performance gain, and will be easy to convert back for my next emissions test

Not what you asked, but thought you might be interested....

Thanks, I don't understand your graph though. It says the same for base HP as what you tested. Not sure what that is showing, sorry. Thanks though.

It's not a before and after, lol! When you dyno a car, you do several runs to ensure consistency. This is just the "after" part, with the DP/PS. My 89 GTUs (rated at 160 flywheel hp) put down 125 hp to the rear wheels in stock form. That's totally normal. When I added the downpipe and presilencer, the output jumped to 147 hp at the rear wheels, which is rather remarkable when you consider I still have the stock exhaust manifold and stock cat back. If I upgrade to an aftermarket cat back, the number are likely to jump up another 10-15 rwhp. Headers won't do a lot until everything else is taken care of. I was just trying to point out that you can spend $300 for 22 rwhp gain, as I did, or spend $1300 for ~50 rwhp gain (with a narrower torque curve).

What I like about the DP/PS: (1) low cost, (2) great sound w/o being too loud, (3) broad torque, (4) easy to swap cats back in for emissions testing, and (5) allows for a more flexible upgrade path (cat back, headers not required but can be added whenever).

I'm not trying to talk you into this. What's good for me is not neccessarily right for you. I was just giving you another point of comparisson to whatever you were planning to go with. Hopefully, someone will post a dyno sheet of the full dual system and you can compare the two setups and determine if it's worth the extra cost. Personally, I use my GTUs as a daily driver and don't need mega HP numbers out of it -- I've got a peripheral port 13B with a Weber 51IDA for entertainment purposes only
