Your experience doesn't count for that much when the rules regarding front plates (and cops' attitudes to them) obviously vary from state to state and country to country. I got pulled over and lectured by a cop just for replacing my front plate with perfectly legible set of stickers, so yes you can get pulled over just for having no plate.

Plastic wire ties have worked for years for me, and you don't have to drill any holes. I want to just take the plate off completely because it just looks out of place up front.

Sort of like Toomuch4you above with the hinge at the top of the plate.
I really like that idea, sounds like it'd work well.

True, but only with good quality mounts and hinges. otherwise it'd flop around and rattle. i'd rather have mine flat down and for daily drivers like us i don't think it'd kill aerodynamics too much for us to lose a race.

nifty idea but really not a functional idea.
just my .02

When I bought my first 7, it came from a state that didn't have front plates, hence no bracket. I went down to the local Mazda dealer and they had one in stock for under 7 bucks with tax. What I find really funny is an oem one just sold on eBay in the $30 range. Check the dealer they may just have one laying around.

By the way, that is the ONLY part I have ever bought from the dealer and I have owned 15 7's with 7 of them still present.

It dyno'd at 1/1000th of an HP thanks to the lamp in the fishtank, the heat generated from the bulb spins the projector inside of it with that beefy power, keeps it moving pretty well and I don't see any turbo lag
