how wide of tires on factory rims

ok i have a 87 turbo II with factory rims, fenders and suspension. i was wondering if i could fit a set of 245/50r16s in the rear. i searched but didnt find anybody going that wide on factory rims.

i Ran 245/50/16's on Eibach suspension. rubbed a little bit on very very hard bumps. but not too bad.
