how to tell high imp. inj. from low by looking at them?

im working on this 88t2 and it will not run smooth under boost (it bucks violently) so i rewired the secondaries (they had bare wires inside the rubber boot ofthe connector.. figured that would fix it since they were bare wires... wrong. so a guy worked on it before and i dont see a resistor pack plug by the fuel pump resistor area, so must be high imp. car right?? well that guy also put resistors in line on the brown wire side ofthe inj. plug.

im wondering why he would put them there? are they needed? back totop how can i tell injs. apart

What color are they? Tan is low impedance, purple is high impedance.
This is in the FAQs, btw.

Ah, ok, just saw that in the sig. I guess you just gotta look up the part number and see. I think there is also a resistance check, but I'm not sure of the details.

Off-center plugs = High impedance
On-center plugs = Low impedance.

Are they light blue 720cc? They are most likely low impedance.

they are 720s so in theory u would not need to use a resistor then? if they are low on a high imp car????

Yes you do. A high imp harness needs resistors to run low imp injectors.

1$ at radio shack.

This really should be a no brainer.
Get a DMM...even a cheap one is like $10.
Sears sells their version for 50% at right around $10 every other month or so.
NO EXCUSE.

It's like asking what the spec of a resistor is if it has no markings...

yes check resistance between the two terminals. low impedence are like 2-3 ohm

Square corner plugs = low imp.

BINGO

but all stock injectors with a circular connector (S5) are high impedance, no matter the offset

but like ted said, NO EXCUSE FOR NO DMM

What RETed said. Stop all the guesswork and just measure.

Use an ohmmeter to measure accross the two terminals. 1-3 ohms = low impedance, around 10 or higher = high.
