how to switch key cylinder on door handle (video)

i had to replace my broken door handle but did not want to use a different key so i switched key cylinders. It looked hard at first but its all steps and its easy.

write up:

assuming the door handle is removed with the wiring harness.

tools:
Philips screw driver
flat head screw driver

1. using flat head remove spring holding the cylinder most of the bracket comes apart.

2. the only thing needed now is the harness. remove by unscrewing the Philip screws there is 5 in total.

3. exchange harness and your done. to install just read the steps backwards.

video i did it with one hand while holding my phone so you should have no problem.

Nothing new. I did it twice when the door handle broke. Took less than an hour.

The plastic flapper door broke on the vert I'm driving. Had to dismantle mine and put a flapper from another lock on. Only problem was that a piece of the broken door is still in the key lock. Every so often it settles in a place that blocks the key from inserting all the way. One of these days I'll tear it apart again and get that piece out.

I highly recommend that anyone attempting this repair should get a new cylinder cut at a locksmith. I think it was $15.
