Thats a tough trip. See if he works at a business where he has a repor with the shipping guy who can get the mini rate with the company's LTL rate. My job by day is international logistics, I always try to help folks. And, shipping engines has been easy for me as well.

WOAH!! Washing state from New York?!?! OUCH!! There is a site online that sends your request to several trucking companies, I think I got it from Kevin (hypnytyz7). He ships more motors then anyone I know, and even arranged for the motors I shipped to him.

Try PMing him.

www.abf.com

IT's youre cheapest alternative (that Im aware of) cross country. IF it's eastern or middle US, www.gorlc.com is by far the best.

There are also sites like freightquote.com, but they have always been expensive when I checked with them.

Just be happy you don't live in Hawaii.
Surface freight shouldn't be too much.
I had a quote for a dry 13BT = $420.
