No they made more than 100. I think it's in the 1500 range for all applicable years.

But it is the RAREST RX7, most ltd production RX7 for the US.

I have one with 90k miles and i love it. it's the best and most reliable. Love the NA rotary.

i only have 60,000 miles on it . and it was garage kept so the car is in really awesome condition.

would it be bad to mod a rare car?? or would it increase value?

Leave it stock but with the value of the dollar and inflation don't ever expect to get a real GAIN from this as a collector item. It's not a classic by any means and to find a Rotary enthusiast to pay what you would want probably wont' happen.

I'd say enjoy it and drive it. If you don't drive it, it's a waste of money and space. That's my latest epiphany.

Mod it, just dont rice it. Its not rare enough to not mod it. Its not a collector car or anything. Maybe do a port job/new engine when needed, a good exhaust, maybe RacingBeat, then some other small mods. id leave exterior stock though. At most a clean set of wheels/tires. even if you were to leave it stock, itsn ot like it would bring more than a few thousand, even if it was super clean. so dont worry about keeping it stock for the sake of retaining value. be happy with the car and do with as you like. it is your car

Ya you should do what i did.

Stock Block
RB Flywheel and clutch
Dana port matched UIM/LIM,
Apexi Intake
Samco Coolant hoses
Hose Tech Vac hoses

Chargespeed front lip,
T2 Side Skirts

Stance Coilovers, F/R Strut Tower Bars, RB Sway F/R
all the alignment stuff you would need,
DTSS Eliminators,

NO RADIO, gauges for Oil pressure and Water Temp, Rishie's FD wheel RECIPE, RB header/presilencer

Momo steering wheel, quick release hub

Call it a day.

Original paint except the FB, Lip, SS, RB, and Rear wing. hehe.

Still took like 3-4 years to get all this **** put together, money wise.

Not really.

1990 models were just left overs from 1989. 1500 total I think for both years.

100 may be accurate for 1990, but who the hell knows.

in '86-87, there was a Sport package available. The Sport package featured the light weight of the base model, the 15" rims from the GXL with the turbo brakes, and a spoiler and ground effects. In '88, the Sport became the GTU, with turbo seats inside. In '89-90, there was the GTUs - a super stripped down racecar. The GTUs has no sunroof, turbo seats, a higher ratio rear end, 16" turbo wheels, and the turbo lip spoiler. The '90 GTUs is VERY rare - only 100 were made.
Just FYI.

There were about 200 of the '90 GTUs "made", however, they were all 89 models that had their VINs changed to say that they were '90s. If you look at the VIN stamped on the firewall the year will be crossed out and the letter for 90 was put in next to it.

See the GTUs tanked in the North American market. The poor gas mileage, and inflated window sticker killed it, as well as most dealers did not understand what the car was supposed to be, or how to sell it. They had leftovers that they couldn't sell, so the got re-badged. The dealers often had aftermarket sunroofs cut in, since it was really the only S5 model not to come with a power sunroof.

Totally agree, keep it stock and it will retain more of its value. If you want something to **** with and be titled as a race car, get a s5 t2, and **** around with that =)

leave that sexy lil gtu's alone lol.

Wow im so jealous lol

Where's a good place (site) to look at/buy body kits and the such? And more on-topic, is there an aftermarket GTUs-type lip? Me want.
