How rare is a 88 GTU ??

I just puchased a black 88 GTU and was wondering how many of these cars caught production and how rare they are in general, since the 88 GTU is like the parent of the S5 GTU's.. thanks
Dave

Well actually it is the son of the 86-87 Sport.. the GTUs would be the grandson to the sport.

But there were around 7K made between the sunroof and non sunroof 88 GS models (the GS is the family that the Sport, 88 GTU and , 89-90 GTUs were in- you'll see it on the window stickers as the model)

They are a good platform, but I would not consider them really any more "rare" than any other FC, except for the verts. There seems to be a few of those around here.
