how to put in long block??

its the jspec with everything on it, what do people usually take off to put in, and do they usually get a new wiring harness, or just connect and tape cut wires? what are somethings that i might want to check/replace, i imagine oil filter, plugs, and i am going with one of those pretty vacuum line kits, and how hard is that to do, i imagine i have to take of the SMIC

hey man im not sayin i know a lot about these cars ive done my motor twice so far so i have a little experience in it but.if i were gonna do it id try to get a hold of a good wiring harness. i doont like chop those up.too much crap can go wrong and itll be forever to firgure it out. i have a 91 n/a and i had to route the harness thru the top of the block and under the lower intake plenum. so i would image takin off the upper n lower runners off. i didnt really get what u meant about taking stuff off. u mean to make installation easier?if so when i did mine i had the upper n lower runners off and the p/s and ac compressor i never disconneted (just tied them up to the side) i just put the shoort block in n bolted everything else up. also i labeled EVERYTHING. i numbered everything n wrote what is it was n where it went in a notebook. so i hope this helps u out man.

Have you ever done a motor swap before? Sure doesn't sound like it....

Considering that our wiring harnesses all connect to their appropriate little boxes on the inside of the firewall. I doubt you'll want to use the harness that came with that j-spec as I imagine it is cut rather than pulled. So you'll want to use your car's harness. If its the same series as yours all the sensors and such should be fine and should plug-n-play from there. I'm not sure about the turbo harness, but for the n/a's you need to pull the upper intake manifold to lay the harness on the block properly. While you're in there doing that you can replace all the vac lines down there too.

thanks, and i just meant what things should i take off the top of the engine, wasnt sure if it should just be the intercooler, or all of it. i have another question, maybe ill make a new post for it if its not answered here, but what is that pipe thingy that runs from the side of the cat-converter to the engine, i couldnt tell where it went to on the engine, because my frined had already taken out most the stuff there, but it went to the exhaust/intake side, and looked like was maybe going to the intake. i didnt think it seemed a good thing to have air from the cat going back to the engine, maybe some sort of sensor?
