How much is my S5 Turbo Vert worth?

Hey guys, I am thinking of selling my S5 convertible with a full TII swap and was wondering what everyone thought would be a fair asking price. I have someone interested and he wants to know how much I want for it. What do you think?

Here is the rundown:

91 Black Convertible (Chassis has ~100k miles)
Full S5 TII Conversion (engine, tranny, rear end, etc.)
Mazda reman engine with less than 20k miles
Haltech F10 (fuel only) with distributor
RC Engineering 550cc primaries
Greddy 720cc secondaries
TurboXS manual boost controller
Stock TMIC
ACT Xtreme (street) clutch and pressure plate
SS Autochrome 3" turbo-back exhaust
PLX M-300 wideband O2
Stock Vert AND TII wheels (I will include both with the car, but they need new tires)

The car is in good condition for its age, but has some minor dents and scratches. It also has a little rust on the front fenders, which should be replaced anyway bc that is where many of the dents are. The Haltech would also need to be tuned, as it doesn't idle very well.

What do you think is a fair asking price as is?

I'll be the 1st one to say it......It's only worth what someone will pay for it.

VERY true. I guess my question is this...what do you think is a fair "market value"? I know there will be a wide range of opinions, but I just want to see what people (in general) think its worth.

Thanks for the help guys.

Well, turbo verts go for quite a bit on Ebay (way more than a coupe) simply because they are so unusual.

I would take a look at past ebay auctions for a guide.

The Haltech would also need to be tuned, as it doesn't idle very well.
I'd be surprised if it got $2k.
Basically you're trying to sell a modified vehicle that is not original that doesn't run well.

Thats fcDROPINthetop's old car! Did he remove the T70 turbo and put it all back to stock to sell it at that price?

I thought using distributers from the carburated cars works rather well.

noooooooooooo the destroyer of dreams has spoken...
lol j/k

you could probably pull 4k but you need to get that haltech tuned and fix any broken crap (stereo surround, dash vents ect) and you may get a good bit more

OK, so after getting it tuned and running well what do you think?

Also, I would be selling to an enthusiast, so hopefully they will see the modifications as added value. I realize that modifications can often decrease the book value of a vehicle, but it will often increase the value to an enthusiast.

The car has been very well maintained, so there aren't really any problems besides the Haltech tune, needs new tires, and has a few dents in the body. The interior is in great shape...the only minor issue is some wear on the drivers seat.

About 2 years ago I sold my turbo vert for 7750 with a full drivetrain swap, new paint, mint interior with full gauges, stereo, wheels, and other mild mods. Of course I probably had double that much into the car in reality.

You're more likely to sell a car like that in the spring or summer than in the dead of winter. But, if there is the right buyer who likes your specific car and mods, then you never know.

The market for clean FC's runs out around 7 grand because you're getting into beater/automatic FD territory there.

Thanks Kevin. I remember your car very well...its still one of the nicest, cleanest turbo verts I've seen.

Unfortunately, my car's body isn't mint and has original paint, so I don't think I can justify a price that high. I hear you about the mods, I put a ton more time and money into my car than I will ever get back. My friends and I did pretty much all the work on it except for the Haltech. I wouldn't even consider selling it, but I live in NYC and I can't afford to have a car there. For now its just sitting, collecting dust at my parents place in NJ.

I know winter isn't the best time to sell (I was planning to sell it in the spring), but I was actually approached by an interested buyer. If this deal falls through, I will wait until the spring to put it on the market. If I can't get what I want for it, I'll just get it running in the spring and drive it on the weekends during the warm weather months.

Sorry, I figured everyone knew what a pretty stock looking TII vert looks like. I already described the condition and mods, I thought that would give people a pretty good idea.

I can post pics later when I'm home.
