I remember my FB took exactly 2 quarts of gear oil in the tranny and rear end. How much gear oil does the t2 tranny and rear end take?

I think there's a fluid spec guide in the FAC section of the 2nd gen forum. If not, then it's in the archive section.

The diff is something like 2 quarts, IIRC. Fill it up till it comes out the fill hole, and if you have extra bottles just return em to the store.

I just filled my tranny and diff...the transmission took somewhere around 2.5qts. and the diff like 1.5qts. If you buy three quarts for the tranny, and two for the diff you should be cool. Just like everyone said, fill it up until it comes out the hole and plug it. This is a good picture of what needs to happen for the transmission.

1.4 on the rear end, 2.5 on the transmission.

For next time, answers to these sorts of questions are almost always in the FSM. If you don't have the FSM, click here and download it in PDF format for free.
