Save the money and don't get the boost controller. Stock turbo is only good for 12psi, and with a ported wastegate, you will be around that psi. Put that money towards a better turbo.
Porting the wastegate doesn't increase boost. Not porting it with a free-flowing exhaust and FCD/Rtek/standalone would cause large boost spikes in the mid-range (3500-5000 RPM). He will still need a controller of some sort to bring the boost level above what the wastegate spring allows (6 psi). The only thing I changed was I added a check valve instead of drilling a tiny hole to vent pressure after letting off the throttle.
