how much do stock seats weigh?

well.. how much do they weigh? especially the 87 gxl seats..

Last I checked they were around ~35 lbs. apiece.

Correct This is for cloth GXL/Turbo2 seats. Base model seats will be slightly lighter, and leather seats will be a touch heavier.

When I weighed In my s5 TII Black Cloth Seats they weighed In at 35lbs. It was a significant difference over my Sparco Sprints weighing In at 17lbs.

I thought they were 45lbs. each....I think it depends on the model

what would a set of s5 t2 leather seats weigh around 40lbs since the cloth ones are 35 and it would be slightly heavier would aftermarket seats do any help or is it a waste of money for 15-20 lbs lighter

I would say its worth it to buy racing seats. People take the a/c stuff out (including me) because of weight reduction. Racing seats at 15 to 17lbs x2 will reduce your weight by 30lbs witch is a better weight reduction then a/c. Man I wish I would have gotten racing seats instead of getting my near perfect factory leathers seats.

Racing seats are definately worth the investment, but not for the weight reduction reasons IMO. If youve ever done some serious driving, you know how hard you have to work to brace yourself during hard cornering. With my racing seats, the huge side bolsters hold you firmly into the seat, so now you dont need to think about bracing yourself, and you can concentrate more on driving. That in itself is a huge advantage, and yes, you do shave a few pounds with them also.

Well fully removed A/c weighs more than 30lbs. Another thing to consider is that "racing" seats are expensive, especially if you want anything with some decent quality. Removing your a/c is free. If you really want to get into it, removing you a/c will also help your cooling system, and will take more weight off the front axle.

I didn't change out my seats so much for the weight, but for the lateral support. Sure, I shaved off like 25 lbs., but the biggest gain was being able to throw the car around and not get thrown around inside. I might change out my driver's seat for a Sparco bucket, though, because this Corbeau reclineable doesn't have enough thigh support and my left leg smashes into my door when I autocross...

Yep, Like I said in my above post, they are rigtht at 35lbs. I shipped out a few sets, so I remember weighing them.

i was looking at a set of ebay seats.. they weigh in at 28 lbs, but ive heard of fitment problems.. really my only concern is something that looks nicer than my stockies, and its cool that it weighs alittle less.
