how much can stock internals handle?
I no with some of the mods iv done to my car it has slighty raised my "redline". But how much can the internals actually handle on a stock port s4?

The stock internals are about all you are going to get.....
Mazdatrix offers race bearings for the rotors and stationary gears, but as to rotors, gears and shaft... wht you got now is about it!!!!
You can have your rotors milled to accept 3mm seals, but my buddy just dynoed his car at 460 HP on 2mm seals, hence, there is debate on weather this is neceessary. However, it may become necessary if you have excessice apex seal grove wear, but thats a different story.
Here's the deal.... If your engine has over 100K on it.. its time for a rebuild before you start upping the anty on the boost factor.... a 400HP engine isn't going to last as long as a stock motor.... period. and if you try to boost a weak stock motor, its gonna break. but the "standard" internal parts will handle over 400 HP (assuming you have the engine tuned right.

well first of all you wont get very far with a non turbo! second theres not really such a term as "stock internals" for rotaries, since we dont have pistons or valves, or rods to change. you get 3mm seals, and porting and your set in a sence.
most of us have been there and done that... its actually a big waste of money trying to make a n/a go fast when you could be using that money to save for a turbo FC and start from there (trust me, I DID IT!). you get a rebuild with a street port, and if your either very lucky or your car is tuned extremely well, or both at the same time, you'll get 200-220 whp... thats about the limit for a streetable non turbo.

no no, i KNOW im not going to throw a rod but there is only so much stock bearings and such can handle, I mean there is a reason why the s4 has an 8k redline and s5 has 9k, and i no s5 has lighter rotors and higher compression, but when people keep saying ur not gonna throw a rod or get valve tap, thats not answering my question, im just asking when is does high rpms begin to get excessivly unhealthy with stock internals.
thanks derek

the mods didnt raise your red line, they only get it there quicker. and 8k is pretty much your limit, so take it up to 7, with a healty motor you can do it no problem, i dont recommend it with yours though because its tired. and one way of knowing your pushing it too hard is when the motor pings, but im not sure if it applies to both turbo and n/a.
