how low do you have to be before the fuel warning light goes on?
So i was on an inclined onramp in NYC the other day going really slow and pretty low on gas and the car stalled. I was assuming the low fuel light was going to come on when it was low enough to do that. the bulb lights up with the ignition on when you first go to start the car so it def works.
ideas?

Ive never had the light come on. Once I was being stupid and pushed the car to see how far I could go but gave up when it threatened to stall. From what other FC owners tell me the light comes on when you have seconds left. Id not try that though if you have a T2.

I've never seen mine come on, not even when I've been within minutes of running out of gas (judged by how much gas went in). I don't think it works at all, unless it's a "your tank is empty" warning light, in which case the stalled car would be a pretty good warning.

Yeah, I have a T2 and mine will start to come on when I have 7.5 litres left but it will fade off and on and once the needle starts getting close to empty it stays on thats when its time to hit the station. Usually about another 30min of driving for me.
PS. Love how my T2 gets better gas mileage than my previous GXL

88 SE, 16.4 gallon tank or such. The first flickers of the fuel light come when the gauge is about a needle's width off empty, with 13gal down, so just over 3gal left in the tank. By the time it's on solid, I'm usually about 13.5-14gal down.

It should DEFINITELY warn you of LOW fuel, not an EMPTY tank. The little bulb is not likely to burn out. Whatever device triggers it must die/wear off in time.
Mine's never come on - I've gotten the tank down to about a needle's width of E. I've never been close to stalling it though.
