how long does it take your fc to start?

I was just wondering because it takes mine about 3-5 secs each time sometimes more. I would like it to be able to start within the first few secs of cranking so what would i need to look at replacin? New starter, better plugs and wires, anything.

New plugs, clean injectors, good gas and a good battery/wires/connections.

I think thats about it.

Do you have emissions removed and a standalone?
Mine starts cold in about 3 seconds, warm is a bit quick. I'm only running a BAC with my Haltech so I consider that pretty good!

Use to take 3-5 seconds to start. Then it stopped starting. I put in a new ignition switch and tightened up all the connectors between the ignition switch and starter. Now it starts in about 1 second.

Had the S5 TII for 22 years and the only time it didn't fire immediately was when it would sit for 2-3 months during the winter with the OE engine. The Mazda remanufactured was installed in 2001 and fires immediately, summer or winter.

Lol at some of the comments. But my only mods are small and severely basic- optima battery, ngk plugs, aaaaaand that's really it that would concern starting of the car. It runs royal purple 5w-30 synthetic if that makes any difference at all. I'm looking into new 10mm wires and doing the city/highway leading/trailing plug setup. But other than that, everything else is stock, save new cats and corksport 80mm cutback.

My dad's old Rx8 used to take a few seconds to start. What's weird though is that it sounded like it had absolutely zero compression while cranking. Just naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa vroommmmm.

After having an almost catastrophic meltdown on the highway, Mazda had to replace his entire exhaust system (except manifold) and his coil packs. I guess they determined that while the coil packs were operating and the car drove, it was supplying insufficient spark. This caused a failure of the catalytic converter which shot catalyst down the pipes into the muffler. Nearly caught the interior on fire, I saw it glowing white after he shut the car off and pulled over.

After all that went down, the car started within less than one second.

Prolly 2-3 seconds of cranking when its been sitting more than a week. 4-5 seconds of the battery is weak.

Emissions deleted minus BACV, but that has decided to start taking a ****, so I hooked the aws valve up to a switch to act as if the bacv were open during starting works great. If the acv wasnt acting up I would have left it(hanging open or not closing irrelevant of temp).

Mine took a few seconds to start, eventually it wouldnt turn over anymore so I replaced the starter (with a used one) and now it starts within a second.

88 n/a ngk plugs/wires, newer battery, 23 year old injectors, unknown compression.

Mine takes about 3-5 seconds. (Rebuild with less than 800 miles, new battery, rebuilt and cleaned injectors, new spark plug wires, oldish plugs.)

Could a dirty/old fuel filter and sock contribute to poor starting?

It wouldn't hurt to check/replace it, and/or the fuel filter. To be honest, I am not sure that a 3-5 seconds start should be anything to fret about.

what about videos of starting? I know if i crank it over for about a second, it will idle at like 100 rpm for a revolution or two and then shoot up, or i can hold the key for 2-3 seconds until the starter sounds like it is over-revving and then let go.

my car has the emissions removed

It really isn't a big deal whatsoever, I was just curious. And sometimes it's just nice to be able to sit there and have it fire right up (you wouldn't believe some of the **** i get in the parking lot of school, but they stop talking **** when I can pull on their new V6 mustangs that their parents bought them. And I have an $1800 24 year old rotary :P).
