How long do Turbo II engines last?

I know this is kind of a wide open question, but what seems to be the average mileage before needing a rebuild?

Stock power, easily 100k miles to 150k miles, no problem.
There are some that can push 200k miles.
Big power motors pushing 300hp or more, I'd recommend getting them rebuilt at 100k miles.

I own a n/a, but know several people who have TIIs. Take care of it (change the oil, plugs, use high octang gas to prevent knock, don't dog it when cold, don't hit boost when cold, don't lean out, etc) and they can last 150,000+. When you start modifying it, the life expectency goes down. Probally like 90,000-120,000 at most for a decently modded TII, but I could be wrong. This is just what I have heard.

Yeah, 120,000 miles is about what I figured. I just found a Turbo II with about 120,000 on the stock engine and turbo for $4000. It already has most of the mods that I would want to do, but I would have to sell my 86 N/A to get it, and the reliability issue worries me. Don't want to buy it, then turn around and rebuild it in 2 months.

Get its compression checked to see what kind of mechanical condition it's in. Not quite sure what stock PSI for a TII, but I'm sure it's burried deep somewhere in an old thread on the forum. Check the Haynes of FSM.
