I drove around for three months on 1 rotor. I think you could do it, but that's sort of heresay. I wouldn't recommend going more than say 50mph.

You can't find a better car between Florida and North Carolina or anywhere that same distance north or west? When you say 1 rotor, is the compression gone on the other one? Completely gone? I don't know if I would want to try it, but you could possibly make it.

If it has *some* compression then there is no reason why it shouldn't make it. Not only did I drive my "1 rotor" for a long period of time, but I beat the **** out of and it stood the test.

I guess you never drove a 1 rotor from Baltimore to Tennesse and their were points when i hit 85+. Up hills down to 45 but it will make it. Shaking like crazy but will make it.

I would more so say tow it, its not a matter if you could make it its more so a matter of how bad you want to beat the **** out of your engine getting there. I mean you could try your chances, but how fun would it be if you blew the engine on the middle of a highway

**** it. drive it as much as you can, and if it dies, **** it, tow it. It's either paying for a tow the full way, or taking the chance and getting off for free... or paying for a small part of the tow.

Well if it has low compression on one side and you add all that stress you risk breaking the apex seal. Which means one less housing and rotor left on the planet and causing a rebuild to cost even more.

I live in Raleigh, its pretty damn nice, voted by MSNBC the number one place to live in America, based on Jobs, crime, weather, etc...no complaints, cheap cost of living and a small rotary scene, kind of the way I like it.
Im the reserves, so I move soon, but liked it while I was here

That's kind of the point. Blown engines are clearly not happy when you push them. As you can attest, they protest quiet vigourously.

Drive it!!!!!!!! It will need a rebuild anyway, plus whatever damage is done is done already. Drive it.

Don't forget, most of I95 from NC to FL is a 45mph minimum. Don't go too slow!

[shameless plug]
I have a black '88 GXL for sale in VA, running on two rotors! Just up I-95, and it just survived a FL vacation!

When I lost my one Rotor it wouldn't start even! But the apex seal did blow and was stuck in there. So it makes sense that it wouldn't turn over.

Oh well it's all better now.

if you are gonna drive it..spend 60-80 bucks to get aaa..you will get free towing..plus the 20 dollar charge..or your looking at 40- 50 bucks for the hookup charge...plus 1-2 bucks a mile if it breaks down..if it breaks down youll probly spend over 100 bucks for a normal tow..you know?..plus aaa lasts for a year..seems like a smart investment. its good money..well spent to give yourself peace of mind..aaa will come to you 24 hours a day..and be there in 90 minutes..usually less...or you could just call the local guy..who will look at you and see that you are desperate..when broken down on the side of the road..hell probly overcharge you cuz you wont exactly be in a position to negotiate..you know your car is already gonna break down..its just a questionb of when..i myself would hate to hear a story of a fellow rotary guy getting ripped by some small town mechanic/ripoff artist.

just my thoughts.
good luck either way...

i was still able to hit 90mph when my engine blew the front fotor. i wa sdriving and it was like uummpphh, then the power dropped drastically. but i was like **** this, its dead, mind as well drive it till the other one blows. it took a while to get up to 90, but it got there and i got the whole way home-50 miles. when i took the exaust manifold off, i saw into the engine and the apex just went into the header and out the muffler, but the housing was totally fucked, as was the rotor.

Yeah, if you drive your car hard on one rotor you risk ******* up the housing and the rotor. On top of that if it has a turbine you risk screwing that too. Think logical not prehistoric

If the apex seal has already been taken out, then chances are likely that the damage has been caused... although if its "low compression", it could be just cracked or seized. if it's been sitting for a while, buy the damn car, bring some mmo with you, put it in the spark plug holes, let it sit for an hour, crank it, let it sit for an hour, crank it, and then the compression should raise hopefully. If it just went one day... then chances are likely there's seal damage.

If it's lost a seal, the housing is already bad. And the rotor is most likely damaged as well...
