how to install racing beat clutch/pp, where to use washers?

I've got 6 bolts, 6 washers, 12 smaller washers, 12 spacers (that go between the pressure plate and flywheel) and 6 nuts.

How is this supposed to go together? I'm not sure if I'm even supposed to use all of it. This is for an '86 n/a.

check racing beat's webpage for instructions.....

I would just install it the same way the old one comes off though, unless when you bolt it down it is spaced from the flywheel when the bolts reach torque spec.....in which case I would measure that distance and add the appropriate number of washers

I installed a clutch kit into my car last week (ACT) and when removing the stock components and hardware, there were no washers between the pressure plate bolts, and the flywheel. The bolts just went right into the flywheel. Two of them were longer though, make sure you don't mix them up. Also make sure you torque them to 20 ft/lbs.

This was on my 88 base, which should have the same drivetrain components as your 86 base.

I wrote a pretty detailed write up involving Clutch and Pressure Plate replacement just last week, if you're interested. Search, it should come up.

Good luck,
James

I put a Racing Beat street/strip clutch & pressure plate on my '88 SE, and I don't recall any spacers/washers/etc... it just bolted right on.

I'd call Racing Beat if it didn't come with instructions. They'll know what's going on.

I held it all together, and the spacers are definitely needed. I just put it together like this:
bolt, washer, pressure plate, spacer, flywheel, washer, nut

if the bolts from the kit are too long, why not use the ones that came out of your old pressure plate....?

just a thought, because as mentioned I have not seen a pressure plate myself either on one of these cars that required spacers, but that doesn't mean yours doesn't.

no bolts were too long, that wasn't a problem

I'll try to remember to take a pic tonight.
