How to install cone intake?

I have a 1990 N/A GTU and I just bought the K&N cone air intake for the car on ebay that comes with the filter itself and 2 adaptor plates. The one I got is very similar to the one shown here in this link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mazda...39049470QQrdZ1

My question is, how do I use these plates? I took out the stock air box to where the tube ends with the MAF sensor. The end of this is round, no bolt holes which resembles the adaptor that came with the intake.

As for now, I just jam the plate with the cylinder sticking out, around the intake tube and secure it with tones of zip ties and clamp the cone filter onto the plate.

Can someone tell me how I should do this correctly or point me to a link where it will show me what to do.

Thanks!

How come? I thought the K&N cone came highly recommended for an intake upgrade?

The intake I posted was just a generic one, I was trying to show what the adaptor plates I was talking abt looked like, but the one I bought is exactly the same, only difference being the cone filter is a K&N.

The K&N cone will be good, but you may want to consider getting some 3" piping and relocating the filter. If you leave it on the end of the AFM, you will lose power because the air it will suck in is so hot.
