Unhappy how i got my ticket today...

well i got pulled over today cuz of the modified exhaust. i got caught at the light and there was a bike cop to the right of me(right next to my exhaust tip) just got done giving some other guy a ticket and getting on his bike putting on his gloves/helmet strap, turning on his bike, while im still caught at the bad timing light. anyways light turns green, i gradually went trying not to shift above 3k, knowing he smelled the illegalness fumes from the exhaust (bonez racepipe/apex n1)i tried to go quickly as i can..THEN the alarms of other cars are making the warning beeps. i saw my rear mirror and see the cop staring at my car. ****. rolled. he switches the lights and catches up to me. and thats how i got my ticket today luckly i didnt get caught with no cat. silencer would be helpful.

EEK scary.. aren't the fines for emissions quite large? I have no cat on my seven either, but I have stock exhaust and manifold.. So it's not super loud, but it does smell

I would fight that ticket if it is for noise level. Go to the APEXi web site, go to downloads and then to product documentation about middle left of the page. There is a CHP bulletin and one from ARB Print them out and take them to court with you. I did this and my ticket was thorwn out because the cop has no way to determine by ear if you are to load or not.

Good luck

I know exactly how you feel.... I stay in southern cali also and I have a apex n1. You have to be extremely careful on the streets or some city cops will be complete asses and give you a ticket. I find if i'm doing alot of hwy driving I take the silencer off my n1. If i'm on the street pretty much.... u need it in. I guess the point i'm trying to make is spend the 45 bucks and get the silencer, It will really save u the time and trouble with your local pd. I'm sure the silencer is cheaper then that ticket.... anyways sorry u got the ticket bro......

yeah,CWATERS, i got it cuz of the noise level...i asked him how can he tell , and he said one of the reasons were that i was setting off alarms...
yeah the ticket for no cat is very expensive..i thought i heard its about couple grands $2-3k ...well thats in Cali. and yes i was thinking of shooting out flames while i was driving away..but didnt wanted to risk him checking under the car for my cat.
HOw loud are you exaust compare to the full RacingBeat turbo back exaust system??
~well i never heard how loud the full racingbeat exhaust sounds but what my set up is its pretty loud..not that im complaining, it has a very nice low tone deep exhaust noise level.(with a help of the bonez racepipe)
thanks for that advise CRASHER2 ill just go ahead and give that a try.
thanks guys

if he didn't he has no way of knowing this. I would fight this ticket. Just go get a cat and have it installed before you go to court. mine didn't have a cat on it either, borrowed one from a friend just in case they wanted to have it checked out. when you go to court plead not guilty and have a hearing, I dont think the cop will even show up, then it is thrown out automaticlly.

If the N1 is anything like the Corksport, then it's LOUD!
My setup isn't that loud under 3k.

Dude the removal of cats is a federal offense, which comes with a 10 grand fine and or a few years in prison. Or at least thats what the VA cops told me Guess I better not get caught, huh!? Well, keep up the loud work bro!

Yeah, he can't PROVE that it is too loud by ear. Fight it. Setting off alarms? I've farted and set off alarms. Well, not really. But people set them wayyyy too weak. I have about the same exact exhaust, and I've seen many, MANY motorcycles around that are much louder than my car, especially at idle. I've also had cops behind me (but in cars) as I barely give it gas and I haven't had a problem.

I just got a speeding ticket in my Daily RX. 41 in a 25 and he cop tacked on a front plate ticket. Total cost $186 ... bastards. I went to DMW cost me $8 to get another front plate and get that part of the ticket signed off. ... dropped just the speeding to $118.

Moral of the story pay to get the plate corected its cheaper than the ticket.

Sounds like you need to at least get the exhaust quieter. If I was in CA I would have a cat on it too. The **** that they give you is not worth it.

Take the shielding from your old stock cats and bolt it on your down and test pipes. that might fool some, but if you got a smart one you can't play ignorant.

Everyone that lives in **** states should just get presilencers and have the split air pipe welded or mounted to a presilencer. If they ever did take a peek, they'd see something in the general shape of a cat where a cat should be. Just my 2¢...

anyone heard of these kind of stories in PA? I haven't had any probs with exhaust yet, but the only time I was pulled over with my exhaust on, it was just for no taillights, and I was barely rolling, so he probably didn't hear (but I know he smelled) the car.

the ticket cost $77...i had it extended to september..i need to get a presilencer or somthing and the pipe stays on its worth it, even though its risky especially the city i live in..cops are dicks here. they would follow you for couple miles if you or your car looks suspect...anyone selling presilencer tip for apex n1?
i tryed to put the cover for the cat on but it doesnt bolt on...
