Question How hard is it to replace a clutch?

I think my clutch needs to be replaced, at both idle and upon taking off i hear what sounds like a fan hitting something. (Sounds like a piece of cardborad hitting the spoke of my old bicycle, flap, flap, flap) and I was wondering if someone with adventurist mechanical skills should undertake this repair. Or should I just spend the bucks for a pro to fix.

If I go the pro route what would be considered a reasonable price:

Thanks

It depends on the clutch, if you're going oem, then the clutch will be around 200, it seems like 6-700 is what i hear of people paying to have it done. Of course that also depends on the shop.

I'm no expert but i had a similar problem and you are not going to like it. I had the exact same sound and it wound up being a tension bolt. One of my tension bolts had backed itself out due to high speed vibration. It started to strike the back of the flywheel and it sounded just like that. When I dropped the tranny, one of the tension bolts on top had been pulled out and stretched to the bottom of the flywheel.

I'm not saying that this is your problem, but just wanted to warn you of the potential. The clutch job itself is easy, your skills and tools will determine the difficulty. If you do it yourself , you can do it for the cost of the new clutch and some exhaust gaskets. I'm not sure what a shop will charge but it will probably suck.
