Question How to empty the gas tank? SAFELY!

I just re-installed the engine after a year, and I figure that I should drain out the old gas and replace it with fresh gas before I try and start it.

Can I siphon it out using the gas line just before it gets to the filter or is there a better way?

Thanks

This is the way I've done it before. Be prepared with plenty of containers because theres always more gas in there than you think.

Good point, something about gasoline flowing onto to the floor especially in a shop heated by natural gas!

Is it the bolt that is on the bottom/passenger side near the front of the tank?

Tutorial on how to kill your fuel pump:

yeh pull the line right b4 the filter and take off the cap and just let it drain. no smoking.
Instead, just remove the drain plug on the bottom of the tank. The tank holds 60 litres, so be ready with a big drain pan. And no sparks, smoking, trouble lights, etc.
