How do you tell?

How can you tell just from the engine if it is a S4 turbo or S5 turbo? is there a code that I could look up? I looked in the FAQ section but didnt really see anything regarding this, just the difference between s4 and s5.

Are the accessories on the engine? I think (but I'm no expert) that the oil metering pump is different between the two models. The mechanical OMP on the S4 will have a linkage rod running from the lower left front side (looking from the front) up to the throttle body. The S5 has an electronic pump and won't have the linkage. Also, I think that the pulsation damper and the throttle position sensor design are different.

Perity much the S5 UIM look different the TB has a linkage rod the motor will have an electric OMP and not manule. The TB will have 2 TPS's on it. The turbo will have TS and the motor will have a TS silinoid on it. It is green in all th way to the front of the silinoids.

S5 for sure.

some easy differences.

- TPS. S4 are single. S5 are dual.

- Thermostat neck. S4 are metal two bolt. S5 are plastic three bolt.

- OMP. S4 are mechanical with a metal rod. S5 are electrical with no rod.
