How do you set your timing?

I feel that with a freshly rebuilt motor new RB spark plug wires a Crane Cams Ignition Box and running high octane gas (91) that I want to reset or advance the timing. Dyno guy Is not sure about setting the timing. With the Leading set at 20 degrees and Trailing at 5 degrees I want to set It up on the dyno to find the optimal range. Am not sure what the #'s 20 and 5 mean though. I know that a timing light is needed. Can any one help on setting up the Ignition timing?

No, I just do the spot on factory timing. Thats why I noticed your typo on the LEAD and TRAIL figures. You've go them backwards. LEAD five degrees after top dead center and TRAIL twenty degrees after top dead center. Sorry didn't mean to be a critic, but someone would notice the typo sooner or later. Bumps you back to the top though.
