Question How do you remove hylomar from your torn-down engine?

As the title says, how do you get the stuff off?
I assembled my engine a few months ago, but botched it up if any of you remember. Now I have finished school and have time to re-rebuild my engine but I need to clean everything up. There is hylomar all over the place in the coolant seal channels, and I need to know what the best way of getting it off is.
BTW, this is the new, inferior hylomar, not the good stuff.

Thanks!

Brake cleaner, or laquer thinner.
