How Do You Put The Intake Manifold Check Valve On?

I just cleaned out my Air Control Valve. I had take out the Intake Manifold Check Valve and It crumbled before me!
I sucked It up and called Mazda and ordered It for $15 can. The cheapest part I ever walked out of the dealership paying for.
The new valve, Is right part # for my FC. I'm sure of that. It won't fit. the circumfrence of the back of the valve Is larger than the opening of the ACV. Do I just bend It to meet clearence of the ACV?
