How do you check the oil metering pump?

I have this inkling that my apex seals are not getting the little bit of oil they need (ie my oil metering pump isn't working). I'd like to check it before I go and buy a bunch of new stuff for it. Is there a simple test or something.

Ideally, I'd just check the oil level after a few hundred miles, but I just changed my oil so I'd prefer to not wait that long.

Thanks

If you suspect a bad OMP then don't delay - add 1qt MMO or 2stroke oil to full gas tank and check OMP by removing the discharge lines and measuring output from pump using a graduated container - Check Manual for specs (CC/Min)

FREE DOWNLOAD OF THE FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL AT http://www.iluvmyrx7.com section 2, page 2-7 in a 87 manual. Turbo .32~.40 cu in at 2,000 rpm for 5 minutes. Non-turbo: .26~.34 cu in at 2000rpm for five minutes. I might have written those numbers down wrong. I do that on occasion. Might want to check for yourself. What happens if you loosen up one of the lines at the meter pump when idling. Get any oil?

Have any idea what it is for the '89+ cars? I would imagine that it's similar, but they have electronic OMP's versus the mechanical ones.

I'm not so sure if mine is working either, so I've been using premix.
