got o a paint store, its like 2000 grit sand paper, just hose the surface down, and sand, don't let it dry out, do it for a few minutes. Then clean it off, and use some polishing compund.

As with any typical "plastic" polishing procedure...
Use the finest grit sandpaper you can get your hands on.
I try to use the "gray" sandpaper - wet / dry type.
I use lots of water during sanding, cause this keeps the plastic cooler.
If the plastic gets too hot, it tends to "sag".

Once you get the surface texture smooth and even, switch to a polish.
If you used a super fine grit (over 2000 grit), you can go straight to a wax - any automotive wax will do.
If you had to use something closer to 400 to 1200, you might need to step to a "polishing compound" to get all the fine scratches out.

Another alternative is to use "Brasso".
We used to use a lot of this polishing brass for ROTC.
It works really well on plastics too, but it stinks!

Try to use old t-shirts for polishing.
The smooth cotton is the best polishing rag to use for plastic.
