how do i remove convertible top?
how do i remove convertible top?
i hav searched here and the interweb, and have not gotten any actual info on how to go about removing the top from a convertible. i am sure that i could figure it out, but would like some idea of where to get startred and what steps are ideal.
not wanting to know where to get a top from, or who to take it to... just a "how to" on taking the top off. possibly info on installation as well, but if i can remove it i can get it back on.
thank you to anyone with any help or links to offer up!

In the FAQ section at the top of this page, there is a link for downloading manuals. There you'll find the '89-91 FSM:
http://www.teamfc3s.org/main/factory...ual/1989_1991/
When you open it, check #14 Body for section "S". In that version, I believe the detailed info on convertible top removal and installation begins with page S-73. If you have a hard copy of the 1990 FSM, it begins on S-79 and runs through S-114.

If you are replacing your top it's really not that hard.. I did mine with help from my dad in a day. I saved $500 and learned a lot. I'd do it again.
Just get you a rivet gun, staple gun, and a punch to poke holes in the fabric. Unless you are doing vinyl.

Best way is to find a parts car Vert with a good top. Then it's just a matter of a few (actuall a lot) of nuts and bolts (primarily 10MM).
