Question how do I make my speedo 10mph off????

ok I need to find out a way to make my speedo be off by atleast 10mph. Can I just take needle off and put it back on ten off or can I get a speedo cable from a auto which has 3.73 gears in it and put it on mine to make it be off????

the auto had 3.909 gears. You could change the tire size.

WHY?

trying to get out of a speeding ticket maybe?

to make the speedo slow you'll need bigger tires or to change to the 4.30 rear end speedo gears.

Mines about 7mph fast due to shorter tires. GPS is the only way to really tell how fast you're going.

Why dont you just have some integrity and own up to it?

OR

If you really believe so strongly that its BS, take it to court and see what they have to say about it.

well FYI it's up to you to have a working speedo. if you make it off. then try to show the judge it was off. he'll probably say, "well you should have had it checked before hand"

and 20 over is jail time?? jesus LOL. remind me to never go there.

Call me a cold heartless bastard, but you obviously knew about all this before you did it. You knew what could happen if you got busted speeding, but you did it none the less.

Maybe this will help you think about the possible consequences of your actions.

I'm all for responsibility, I guess. But I'd rather see him get out of the ticket.

If the speedo is off, a judge will have no choice but to give you a 90$ (or so) fix it ticket and probably make you show proof within a week of the ruling that you had it fixed and still a speeding ticket for 15 - 20 over.

If the cable drive on the trans is adjustiable like on a 3rd gen you can make a new gear out of plastic to change the ratio ( bigger or smaller gear as needed ) The 1st and 3rd gen gears are cut at different angles ,I do not know what angle the 2nd gen is . Garfinkle has made several from white nylon stock, when tire sizes were changed.

weird... up here the judge would just say tough luck. it's your responsibity to make sure you are driving a working car.

in fact for fighting speeding tickets. if we say "I wasn't speeding, I was staring at my speedo" the judge will ask you for proof that the speedo was right before you got the ticket... which nobody will have.

dam what happens if you get caught doing 90mph in a 30 down there? LOL... do that 1-2 times a week LOL..

argue over the 5mph discrepency. Im not sure if it would be wise to admit to speeding however do contest to the reckless driving, and state that most speedometers have a give or take of about 5 mph, so you could have been going as slow as 60 or as fast as 70 and you wouldn't have known the difference. Also get a lawyer, if you bring some kind of councel the prosecuter might just give up to avoid a lengthy court preceding. Ive seen it happen lots of times. Either way a lawyer is good, lets you know what your rights are. Anyway good luck

wow you can actually go to jail for speeding.
Here in Denmark we can only loose our license for a few years(knock on wood) for speeds above 70 percent of the allowed speed.
Another option if lower speeds is a huge ticket 1000$+

So instead you're going to get an inaccurate calibration sheet and testify to its accuracy in court? That's called perjury, and you've taken a minor infraction and turned it into a felony. Also tampering with the speedometer/odometer is a crime in itself. Don't be stupid.

Get yourself a lawyer for $200 and he'll get the fine/charge reduced to simple speeding. The odds of you actually getting a reckless conviction are low, especially since you're right on the border--unless your driving record sucks already.

Even though he comes off sounding like a jackass, adamlewis is right. There is a right and wrong way to defend yourself and you can get out of this safely without lying or breaking other laws.
