How do I loosen the AC belt?

This should be simple but I am having problems. I tried the idle pully and to no avail. Do I need to try harder?

Common trap for first-timers!

Loosen the nut on the front of the pulley (17mm I think) then wind the 10mm bolt behind the pulley to lower the pulley down.

just cut it, and take the ac out!!!!!!!!
