Stick your mouth on the exhaust pipe and breath in deep, you'll know if you're running rich. LOL

Seriously though, you should be able to smell if you are. Other than that, I think a/f meter should tell you. You can also check the **** in the engine bay to see where it's turned. Hmm I'm curious anyone else have better ideas?

there's a switch in the engine bay on the left side of the engine bay right next to the strut tower. I has to arrows pointing in to directions with F on one end and A on the other. You can try to lean it out more with that by turning that more toward the 'A', but I strongly suggest a a/f guage because it'll be more accurate for you =).

the thing chris is talking about is the variable resistor, i believe it's only for adjusting mixture at idle

i didn't say that, you could still be running rich throughout, but the variable resistor let's you adjust mixture only at idle. if's it's rich at idle turn it down a bit. but you will need to jump the intial set connector to do this. and there's probably a silicon plug on top of the screw from the factory if nobody has messed with it. and it has a R and a L and arrows pointing which way is which.

if you really want to fine tune it, i suggest maybe a apexi safc 1 or 11, and going to the dyno and getting it tuned properly.

My 91 NA shoots about 1-2ft flames out of the exhaust pipes when shifting at high rpm... does this necessarily mean its running rich, or is the engine at such a high rev that the engine does have to to "extinguish" the flames?
I've heard both from different ppl.
