How do I install an aftermarket (MOMO) shift boot? HELP!!!!

When i got mine..i had to cut the bottom of the boot up to fit into the pegged spaces, since the boot was too narrow at the bottom, looks ghetto as **** from underneith, but works out alright above.
does anyone know where you can get shift boots with a base as wide as the stock boot? Why would mazda make such a short fat boot..? oh well..not as bad as the rotary stock door speakers..
