Angry How Do I Get This Thing Off??!!!

See that? (download attachment) thats my control arm, i have just purchesed some polyutheren bushing for my 87 s4 t2. I have the whole rear end apart, even the sub-frame. Now is the tough part, I have been at it all day. I dont have a presser or a puller so handymans imagination is key. My imagination want to go to break, so i was wondering if any of u guys have any suggestions. So far I have used a big socket on the bottom to try and bang it out from the top, then i also have tried to drill it out and i have cut the rubber going around the top. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Sergei.

burning it out witha propane torch will take light years. take it to a shop and they will press out all bushings for u. or u can purchase a bushin pressing station. u will not be able to bang it out becase teh rubber bushing will just spring back at u. u pretty much need a bushin pressing station. i am sure there are other methods but will take too long. if u want to be creatve use 2 walls and a car jack with your socket the placement of teh parts u ahve to figure out yourself to get that thing ou tof there good luck

If that bushing is like every other bushing I've seen, then you need to only cut out enough rubber so that you can get a saw in there. There is a metal ring on the outter edge of that rubber. Make two cuts about .25-.5" way from each other, being careful not to cut into the control arm. Once the cuts are complete, take a flat blade screw driver and a hammer and knock that .5" piece you just cut. Then take the screw driver and try and tap the rest of the bushing in. It should kind of peel out of the control arm.
