hey im tryin to get the igntion out of my 88 vert but how do i get the steering column cover off do i need to take the steering wheel off? thanks

It is a two piece cover after unbolting it the bottom half comes off by pulling the tilt lever down and sliding it out. The top half is a bit tricky you have to work the back of it out under the gauge surround. The easiest way is to remove the wheel and gauge surround, but it can be removed with a little finesse without removing either.
