How do I do this? electrical, sorta....
I'm trying to sell my N/A engine, but I need compression #'s on it. Its currentlyu sitting on a pallet with the compression tester hanging out of the from trailing hole. I didn't think to check it while it was in the car, so I have to do it here. I tried hooking the starter up to a fully charged battery. No Go. How would I get the engine to crank over so that I could get some #'s on it. Thanks.

one of the engine builders here built a stand to run rebuilt engines. i want to say it was kevin landers at rotaryressurection. only problem is, i dont know how to spell resurrection. when you figure out the spelling, check www.rotaryressurection.com.

if you're trying to get compression then you're going to have one hell of a time. You are supposed to measure the compression when the engine is at operating temperature. Measuring compression when the thing is just being cranked isn't going to provide you with very useful numbers.

It sounds like the best you can do is hand-crank it from the front bolt, and get the best readings you can...Injecting a little oil into the housings before the test might help a little...This will at least tell you if you SHOULD have good compression once she's running...
