how do i control my idle?

I just did the s5 intake swap and now i cant idle below 2k, i just replaced all gaskets and grinded some more metal to make sure uim isnt hitting block so i am pretty sure i dont have any vac leaks. one of my suspicions is the tps, i used s5 tb with s4 tps and switched some parts so the lever on throttle hits the tps but it doesnt press it completely in when no throttle so i had somebody hold it down and it still doesnt idle. one question is what exactly does the tps do? or what does it control. my other question is how do i get complete control of my idle, can i just take out bac( no a/c,p/s) and what else would i have to remove or change? thanks for any info!
