Question How do I break in a new clutch

Sorry for the newbie post, guys and gals, but I just had a new clutch put in, and I've read other posts about breaking it in, but I haven't read how. Can someone enlighten me, please? Thanks!

No prob. Just broken in my new clutch (at least, I think I did... )

No high rpm drops, no hard launches, try to minimize the use of the clutch, try to stay in the "usable" area in rpm (i.e. dont drive the car in 4th with 1000rpm ), ALWAYS FULLY depress clutch pedal during shifts. All of the above for 400-500km, and you are set!

hey, my name's Kevin too... cool.

Anyway, how much trouble would I be in, if I didn't exactly break in my clutch like The Ace suggests? The rpm drops and full pedal depression parts, specifically...

I recently got a new clutch disc and everything seems fine when I'm accelerating, but if I take my foot off the gas, there's a lot of squeeking and down about 1500rpm in 1-3rd gears, I get clutch chatter when decelerating. I've just passed 1000 miles and it doesn't seem to have gotten any better.

Am I screwed?

The clutch break-in period allows the clutch to work slightly better, and for waaaayyyyy longer than if you didnt break it in properly. In other words, you'll get more and "better" miles out of your clutch this way...

About the noises, I'm not sure this is caused by the clutch, especially if its a new one. If you didnt do anything seriously wrong, then I would suggest to look at your various oils and lubricants down there...
