How to disassemble gauge cluster??

I know this sounds retarded, but I cant for the life of me figure out how to get the clear plastic lens off of the gauge cluster without breaking it. I dont really see any tabs holding it on, so I figured it was glued. I tried using a hairdryer to loosen any adhesive, but to no avail. Could someone please tell me how to get this thing apart... Thanks

a hair dryer really should work. i did however seperate it with a razor blade once on my friends honda civic. just carefully press it between the two plastics and break their bonds, go slowly around. then glue it back together when you're done.

Hmmm..Mine was already loose when I took my cluster out. And it looked broke.

Got me, but I would be very interested in the answer.

So there are no tabs? I guess Mazda really didnt' want people taking them apart. Every other car I've had a guage cluster out has had just tabs holding the clear piece on. Instead of a hair dryer, do you have a heat gun, would get more heat on it than the hairdryer, just don't melt it.

UHm..alright I figured it out. The clear plastic piece itself is not supposed to come off. On the top there are 2 black plastic tabs that need pushed out, then the whole front assembly comes off, giving you access to the gauges...

yeah, you take it off with the black side section. Don't try a hair dryer or melting it or cutting it. Just a couple of screws form the back and the whole thing comes off.

Yea, I was trying to take just the clear plastic piece off, since there is a small crack in it, and I wanted to replace it. Is that possable?
