I have an s4 with the OEM a/c efan, can I just remove that and wire it directly to the rad efan per facotry diagram? according to the schematic, looks like it turns on the a/c efan whenever the thermoswitch switches at temp or when a/c is on. Just need an opinion before i start scavenging for necessary parts.

Does anyone have a part number for this?
I have an 87, I want to put it on the thermostat housing. There is a spot there for it, I would just need to drill and tap.

I bought one of Amazon that I thought was the right one, but it is way too small.

It is for the Starion, and people have said it works.
It is supposed to be a 207F, like the turbo cars.

Attached is a section from the starion FSM stating the temps.

Isn't 207 on the hot side? I was thinking of like 195-200'ish

I'm not sure what the ideal temp should be in our cars but always thought like 190-200.

Turbos probably run hotter than na's , my old NA never really went above 200. 180-195 was the usual, according to manual temp gauge.

so i've made a discovery. i was putting the relays back together on my S5 and it already has a fan relay, and fan connector, its for the A/C aux fan, but it is a 30A circuit.



it took quite a while to figure out the proper order of the relays, but from left to right in the picture they are,

headlight relay, which powers the headlights.

dimmer relay (blue), which takes the power from the headlight relay and switches between high and low beam.

the next one is fog light relay (green), which is only present on cars with for lights.

there are two round AC relays, which i don't have.

and then the cooling fan relay.

the bonus is that the temp sensor wire is present, plus the ECU and A/c can trigger the fan on as well.

there is also a 1 pin green test connector on the shock tower, by the map/boost sensor.

fan connector is up in front of the radiator, by the horn on mine

on an S5 all you need is to install the fan, everything else is already there

I need some clarification please. I bought an S5 turbo thermoswitch for my s4 turbo. Obviously the threads are waaaaay off (stupid me for not realizing beforehand). I see a lot of talk about the Starion switch, but no one ever confirms if it's the correct thread for an S4 turbo with the normally open configuration; lots of "this worked for me", but no one specifics if they have an S4 or S5. Also I've seen conflicting info as to if the Starion switch is 195* or 207* triggered. If you have the correct model number or vehicle year off hand I would greatly appreciate that information. I just want a normally open switch to thread into my stock location!

The Starion switch in question is Beck Arnley 201-1158.

Sorry to bring up an old thread , I was thinking of putting on my fiero efan on my s4 t2 since the stock fan can go without warning. The 207 turn on temp seems rather high , when does the stock clutch fan turn on and shut off? Is there a way I can run this setup with one relay and a different thermowitch (my ac is removed completely)? I'd prefer a lower temp then 207 , why not 195 or so?

Beck Arnley 201-1158 from a Starion is what you want. The threads are correct for our s4 water neck, switches like an s5, and triggers around 195*.
